  • ARTIST STATEMENT

I use drawing, printmaking, and digital media to create detailed patterns and biomorphic forms on textile and paper. With an aesthetic that combines Japanese woodblock prints, art nouveau, surrealism, and street art, my work depicts abstract organic shapes that invite the viewer to interpret its form.

My use of an unplanned and meditative drawing technique lets the work grow organically to build rhythmic compositions filled with shapes that intertwine and undulate. I draw inspiration from patterns found in the natural world, from microscopic cell structures to cosmic events. Through drawing and digital collaging, I fuse drawings together and explore unexpected results while creating a new world that evokes a sense of mystique and wonder.

Resembling the growth process of Lichen, a plant-like structure that is not a single organism but a symbiosis between different species, my work is a synergy of drawings that take on new forms when combined together. I see my drawings as made-up organisms that continue their evolution when brought into the digital realm by layering, repeating, and mirroring different pieces together. They build and coalesce to make up unknown entities with unique arrangements of intricacies and pareidolia.
